Guideโ€บBuilding your campaign

Campaigns, ads, and targeting groups

Cgmimm Ads has three levels of organization. Knowing how they fit together saves you from common mistakes like running ten tiny campaigns when one bigger campaign would do better.

The three levels

  • Campaign. A container with one billing model (CPC or CPM), one bid, one daily budget. Like a "marketing initiative."
  • Targeting. Lives inside a campaign. Defines who sees the ads โ€” geo, topic, keyword.
  • Ad. The creative โ€” headline, description, image. A single campaign can have multiple ads.

How they relate

๐Ÿ“ A real-world structure

Campaign: "Riverline Plumbing โ€” Q2 2026"

โ†ณ Targeting: Geo: Travis County ยท Keywords: emergency plumber, leak repair, water heater

โ†ณ Ad 1: "24/7 Emergency โ€” call now" headline, native format

โ†ณ Ad 2: "Free quote in 60 seconds" headline, search text format

โ†ณ Ad 3: Banner billboard format with phone number

One campaign, three ads. The auction picks whichever ad wins each impression โ€” so the system learns which creative converts best for your money.

One campaign with several ads beats several campaigns with one ad each

Why? Because each campaign has its own daily-budget cap. If you split your budget across three tiny campaigns, none of them gets enough volume to learn from. One bigger campaign concentrates spend and gives the system more data to figure out what's working.

๐Ÿ’ก Pro tip

Rule of thumb: one campaign per marketing goal. Not one per ad. If you're promoting a new emergency-plumbing offering, that's one campaign โ€” even if you make five ad variations.

When to use multiple campaigns

Split into separate campaigns when the SETTINGS need to be different:

  • Different geo โ€” running statewide AND a hyper-local 5-mile-radius push? Two campaigns.
  • Different bid level โ€” willing to pay more for a high-value market? Different campaign.
  • Different billing model โ€” CPC awareness + CPM brand campaign? Two.
  • Different network site โ€” flagship-only vs. vertical-only? Different campaigns help you compare.
